The Pululahua Hostal is an absolute treasure: spectacular scenery, unique plant and wildlife biodiversity, a dazzlingly beautiful topographical location, and unfailingly excellent organic meals. Plus, the hosts are courteous and a joy to be around. It´s been an exceptionally fun, exciting and enjoyable stay.

Me, my son and a friend went for a weekend to Pululahua and had a very memorable stay. We got very nice food, hiking in the mountains and valleys, fantastic sceneries and exciting trails. We had a relaxing time in the jacuzzi under the stars. We had a ride on the horses up from the Crater, wow! And we feel that we will come back sometime, though we live as far as Sweden. If you have got the possibility to go to Ecuador and Quito. Don't miss the Pululahua Hostel experience. Ulla Arnby, Sweden.

We had an absolutely amazing 4 days at Pululahua hostel. When we weren´t horseback riding down pre-inca trails and cloud forests, or climbing mountains, we were either eating fabulous organic home grown food, relaxing in the jacuzzi, or getting addicted to the unique and delicious black russians (you must try these). Staying in this unique location is really special. The hospitality was second to none and the whole experience really was the highlight of our trip. If we´re back in Ecuador any time soon then we´ll be sure to come for another stay!
Thanks a lot,

Sitting in front of the computer here in Wales, I can still remember everything about our weekend in Pululahua as if it were yesterday. The view from the rim, the ride down into the crater, the treks, the scenery, the amazing variety of flowers in the forest, the gorgeous food, relaxing our muscles with a beer in the jacuzzi under the stars, amazing coffee (best in Ecuador - our supply is still going at home), the eco-ethic that the hostal is run by. And as for the welcome, man the welcome: never have I stayed anywhere where, as a paying guest, I've been treated so much like a dear and welcome friend of the family. As the man said "Everything is low-key, except the service!". Cheers Renato, see you again one day, maybe.

Apreciados Renato y Paola,

During our entire trip to Ecuador, my husband and I enjoyed our experience at the Pululahua Hostal more than any other. The owners and staff were generous and kind, taking the time to show us the windmill and solar cells. Our room was beautiful, homey, and comfortable - with really hot water (sometimes hard to come by we found).

The Pululahua Crater is an underrated treasure - only thirty minutes from Quito and barely mentioned in guidebooks. Any visitor to Quito would be missing out by not visiting this national treasure and staying at this luxurious hotel.

Travelling with my best friend, through ecuador, we stayed here only for one evening but it was so relaxing during what was a full on trip.
As experienced riders the horses were great - had a great run for a few hours, amazed at the crater and its history, followed by relaxing in the spa. I have reccomended it to anyone visiting south america, would love to return one day.
Great food, wonderful homely hospitality, thanks again,

My husband and I booked a full day’s birding with Renato. He picked us up at our hotel in Quito at 6 am with coffee and sandwiches and we set out for our first stop which was Antisana National Park. Our main goal here was Andean Condor and Renato maneuvered us in the perfect spot to watch an adult male and a juvenile perched on the cliff. As if this wasn’t exciting enough, during the course of the day we saw four more adults. Antisana was beautiful and gave us a good list of birds we weren’t going to find on any of our other stops in Ecuador. After amassing a good list we stopped he provided us with a tasty lunch. We then headed for an afternoon’s birding at Guango Lodge, a completely different environment. Here we had our first hummingbirds including our coveted sword bill. We hiked up and down the river to spot the elusive torrent ducks which we eventually found. We got back to our hotel in Quito around 8 pm. A very long and satisfying day. Throughout Renato was an excellent guide and very good company. He speaks excellent English. I would recommend him without reservation and only wish we could have gone out with him again.
